IMPORTANT: Fager Felix offers two fittings, each offering a very different result.

Fitted one way it creates a front-lock, whereas when turned around and fitted the other way there is no locking of the joint.

WITH front lock is recommended if you would describe your horse as the following:

  • Can be inconsistent in the connection.
  • Do not actively seek contact towards the bit.
  • Drops the bit/falls behind the hand.

WITHOUT front lock is recommended if you would describe your horse as the following:

  • Can be inconsistent in the connection.
  • Feels stiff under the saddle.
  • Bites down on the bit, attempting to pull it back.
  • Attempts to place the tongue over the bit.

Anatomically designed for comfort, Felix is a lightweight single-jointed bit with our unique Fager Smart System – FSS™. This innovative system is designed to lock the joint in any direction, in order to avoid any interference with the palate; thus avoiding the ‘nutcracker’ effect.

It creates the feel of a classic straight bit, yet with added flexibility.  The design creates stability whilst ensuring free movement and comfort in the horse’s mouth through a well-balanced, horse-friendly bit which has proven to be greatly appreciated by sensitive horses.

Felix’s design is curved to create room and allow freedom for the tongue. A horse with a sensitive tongue will appreciate this innovative design and will be more accepting of the contact, creating a refreshed willingness to work.

Baby Fulmer is a registered design by Fager. This sidepiece will give you a mix between the loose and fixed rings. The Fulmers will lay close to the horse’s side, helps with steering, and keep the mouthpiece steady. The loose rings are placed further away from the mouth corners, and this will put the pressure further down and inwards, encourage the horse to lift in the front, come back to your hand, and avoid a stiff feeling towards the bit. It is a very comfortable choice for many horses and a great start for a youngster.
